Aperol is out, Hugo is in!

We love an Aperol spritz every now and then here at Samson Brook South, but we have found something that will change your spritz game.

This refreshing spritz is perfect for a summer afternoon relaxing by the pool or ocean, escaping the heat of a Perth summer. Louisa first discovered this drink in her travels around Europe, looking for something refreshing that was not Aperol, when a gorgeous waiter recommend this to her.


A Hugo spritz is a sure fire way of beating the heat, with refreshing cucumber, elderflower and lime its are to transport you straight to the Italian coast. The light and bubbly cocktail features both Gin and Prosecco as its base, tweaking the traditional Aperol and Prosecco base for a spritz for a fun and fruity flavour.





Ingredients

  • small handful of mint leaves plus 1 mint sprig to garnish

  • 20ml St Germain Elderflower Liquore

  • 20ml Humming Frog Mandarin Gin

  • Ice

  • 25ml Tonic Water

  • 120ml Prosecco

  • 1 mandarin wedge, to garnish




Instructions

  • STEP 1 Gently scrunch the mint in your hands to lightly bruise it, then put in the bottom of a large wine glass. Pour over the elderflower cordial and Humming Frog Mandarin Gin. Leave to infuse for 1-2 mins.

  • STEP 2 Fill the glass with ice, then pour over the soda water and prosecco. Stir gently to combine. Garnish with the lime wedge and mint sprig before serving.

  • STEP 3 Enjoy responsibly!
